If you go through our numerous videos from the CleanCloud Villum Spring, Summer and 🗻 Mt. Helmos CHOPIN campaigns,
you will notice that many feature soundtracks recorded with yours truly
on the piano (either solo or in chamber music ensembles). One reason
was to avoid copyright, but another of course was my love for classical
music and to add a personal (and admittedly bold) touch to videos that
document an amazing set of experiments by a large dream-team of
scientists.
Another reason came from the inception of the CleanCloud campaigns.
Their "selling point" in the proposal was to focus on improving and
enriching ground-based and space-bourne remote sensing (and of course,
improve process understanding which all campaigns aim for). This concept
came while playing some...
Chopin during the proposal writing phase
(can you find out which piece it was?
hint: it's the first piece from
the
first CHOPIN video
on our channel, Fall moments). So when planning the Mt.Helmos campaign,
we proposed some names, one of which was "
CHOPIN", and it won by
popular vote! Cool, no?
The videos
contain some segments from older performances (to honor magic moments
and friends of the past) but also include some newer recordings that
were unplanned. The weekend before
CHOPIN started,
I walked by the local piano store with my son, was inspired to enter
and play on some awesome pianos (that make anything you play sound
amazing) and recorded together some pieces on a cellphone. We had a
wonderful time, and here are some excerpts of the pieces. Forgive the
mistakes, the pieces were played without any preparation (just whatever
was in memory), but I loved it and hope you like it too! (can you find
out in which
CleanCloud videos they appear in?).
